Status quo of supply and demand of titanium tube
Titanium and titanium alloys are of strategic significance to the national defense, economy and scientific and technological development of a country. The amount of titanium and the development level of titanium industry are important signs of a country's comprehensive strength. China is rich in titanium resources, which provides a unique advantageous condition for the development of titanium industry and the expansion of application. According to data from the Ministry of Natural Resources, China's proved reserves of titanium ore in 2019 were 850 million tons, an increase of 24 million tons from 2018.
Titanium has been processed into various products and used in many fields because of its excellent corrosion resistance, high specific strength and good processing performance. Titanium tube is one of the most important species in the family of titanium materials, and it is widely used. China produced 10,150 tons of titanium tubes in 2019 and 9,488 tons in 2020, Votti’s yield volume is 12% of the national total amount!
Because the performance of pure titanium is similar to that of ordinary steel, the production process of titanium pipe is similar to that of steel pipe to a great extent. The application of titanium tubes has been mainly to replace steel tubes, but the application of titanium tubes has been restricted by the cost. With the technical transformation and upgrading of the sponge titanium plant, the efficiency is further improved and the cost of sponge titanium is reduced, which directly leads to the cost reduction of titanium processing materials and promotes the market application of titanium materials.
In 2019, China's apparent demand for titanium tubes was 8430.8 tons, with a year-on-year growth of 19.01%. In 2020, China's apparent demand for titanium tubes was 7848.2 tons, down 6.91% year on year.
Import and Export Trade
Since 2018, the number of titanium pipe imports from China has been declining, and the domestic substitution trend is obvious. In 2020, the export quantity of titanium tubes from China was 2337.3 tons, which decreased by 997 tons compared with 3334.3 tons in 2019. China imported 697.5 tons of titanium tubes in 2020, a decrease of 917.6 tons compared with 1615.1 tons in 2019.
